Trident Cycles & Tern Anchor permanently banned from Trade me (for the 3rd time) for breaching Terms & Conditons.

When will Trade Me ever learn?

It has just been confirmed that Trident Cycles and Tern Anchor have been banned from Trade Me (for the third time) for breaching the TM terms and conditions.

All Trident Cycles & Tern Anchor products have now disappeared from Trade Me.

But knowing Trade Me as we all do – it won’t be long before NZ’s most infamous three-times undischarged bankrupt, Grant Norman King, is welcomed again by Trade Me with open arms.

Hilarious: Chinese business partners of Grant King trying to buy up international domain names that have “Grant King” in the web address.

I received this email in my inbox today from the Chinese web registry office in Shanghai:

Dear Manager,

(If you are not the person who is in charge of this, please forward this to your CEO,Thanks)

This email is from China domain name registration center, which mainly deal with the domain name registration and dispute internationally in China.
We received an application from Huahong Ltd on May 26, 2014.

They want to register ” grantnormanking ” as their Internet Keyword and ” grantnormanking .cn “” grantnormanking .com.cn” grantnormanking .net.cn” grantnormanking .org.cn ” domain names etc.., they are in China domain names.

But after checking it, we find “grantnormanking ” conflicts with your company.

In order to deal with this matter better, so we send you email and confirm whether this company is your distributor or business partner in China or not?

Best Regards,

Jim

Yes, so desperate is the parent company of Trident Cycles and Tern Anchor to protect their NZ Manager Grant King (and the now tattered NZ reputation of their company), they are wanting to buy up every domain name similar to the domain name of this site, and try and push this website down the Google search engine rankings.

Honestly, if this was the “other way” that Grant King refers to in the recent Sunday Star Times article as “getting back” at me, the dumb-ass probably didn’t bank on the fact that before a domain name can be registered,  a registry company would check out if anyone else had the same or a similar browser address so as not to risk legal or copyright action.

Words fail me………………….

Guess that’s the end of Grant King, Trident Cycles, or Tern Marine trying to join the North West District Business Association then………………………….

Congratulations to the Executive of the North West District Business Association acting in the interests of their members – now if we could only see the same response from some local riding schools in the area:

Trident Cycles increase turnover in March….to an average of $146.00 a day :(

Grant King Offender Timeline 1982 – present-day

Grant King Media Articles Library Summary

Goodness me, I had a look at the Trade Me sales summary for Trident Cycles tonight located here.

If you add up the completed sales for the month of March 2014 to date (Trade Me being the sole mechanism for Trident Cycle sales), you come up with $2792.00 of turnover up to and including 19/3/14 (today).

That figure equates to just $146.00 of turnover a day.

That’s $146.00 a day to cover the costs of a building lease; vehicle; advertising / branding; salaries; show fees, and the other associated costs of running a business.

The Chinese must be ruing the day that they ever thought that it was a good idea to get into business with Grant King – they must surely be bleeding thousands and thousands of dollars a week in unrecoverable costs.

No doubt they will soon learn the lesson of “GNK Syndrome”, whereby anyone who allows Grant King to get anywhere near their business ends up suffering MASSIVE losses.

The Trident Cycles Sales process on Trade Me (and why it is so risky for the Consumer).

So, you want to buy a bike.

You log onto Trade Me, and you locate a company by the name of “Trident Cycles”.

Trident Cycles is not a registered Trade Me Online store, but sells its products exclusively through Trade Me.

You see a bike that you might be interested in, and you make an enquiry about coming and having a look at the bike before you bid (a very common consumer pre-sale question):

You are advised that the company is not allowed to divulge its address:

Screenshot 2014-02-20 17.41.58

You then ask if there is someone you can speak to about the bike, or a phone number, but you are told that that is not possible either:

By this time, you are feeling a bit suspicious – why is Trident Cycles being so secretive about where it is, who works for it, and their contact details?

You decide that you need to “test” as to whether the answers you have been given by Trident Cycles are true i.e. that they will only give out their address details to an “auction winner” (see above).

You win an auction with Trident Cycles via a “Buy Now” option on one of their products:

Screenshot 2014-02-23 09.48.43

You receive payment instructions after winning the auction – but what you don’t receive is the address of the seller, as previously promised by the seller  – and you still don’t receive any contact or personnel details:

Screenshot 2014-02-23 09.48.43

You also discover that the name of the account holder, and the name of the company directors who gave Trade Me an undertaking that only they would be operating the Trade Me account, are different people.

Compare the name in the above screen shot, with the names of the Directors listed for “Trident Cycles: at the Companies Office  – they don’t match.

Have a look at the email address as well – its a Gmail account, not a commercial business account, and we all know who is fond of using Gmail accounts, posing as a real business:

Trident Cycles Business Cards

So, in order to buy a bike from Trident Cycles, you have to pay money to an organisation that won’t confirm its contact details, pay money to an organisation that won’t confirm its commercial address, pay money to an organisation that won’t allow you to look at the product before you buy it, and pay money to a company where even the company personnel are not who they say they are.

And if you get ripped off – you’re screwed – because you have precisely no information on the company that you have paid your money to.

And Trade Me permits this sort of business practice.

Dodgy, dodgy, dodgy, and dodgy.

When dealing with Trident Cycles, it’s Caveat Emptor, Consumers, Caveat Emptor.

As for me, I think I’ll stick with Bike Barn.
