The story behind these very nice cars (as reported by a confirmed racing source), is that, while Grant King was very fond of racing ’em, he was less than keen to pay for ’em: eventually, he allegedly had to return them both to a very, very pissed-off and out-of-pocket owner.

Reading some of the racing forum threads that have been very kindly sent to me – Grant King was apparently not much a driver anyway: one bump, and he’d apparently hike it for the middle of the track to sulk about the fact that someone had hit him.

Maybe Grant King should have stuck with Midgets or Mini-sprints? These bad boys frankly look to be beyond him.
